    The photo that’s been blacked out on this one adds a nice extra layer. I like that it doesn’t detract from or conflict with the text, and that small amount of color gives the page some nice warmth. Kind of like a faded memory or a static-y image on an old tv.

    I used to play around with images more in these things:

    A batch from way back

    A more recent one

    In fact, in the beginning I called them “Newspaper blackout COMICS” because of the text/image combinations…but they’re not comics: they’re poems.
