Drawing Megzo from Austin Kleon on Vimeo.
I just bought an Aiptek A-HD+ 1080P HD cheapcam, and here’s a little test video I did of myself drawing.
As with any new toy tool, I’m not real sure what I’m going to use it for. You get the tool first, and then you find a use for it…
Time-lapse videos of blackout poems?

Cool! I always wondered what our (Australian) Prime Minister Kevin Rudd would look like with cleavage.
Time-lapse blackout poem videos would be brilliant. Go for it, says I.

What was your experience downloading the files off of the camera? I bought an Insignia HD camera for about the same price and it puts them in a very weird codec that my Mac has trouble reading.

@django dude, WTF?
@grant it was super easy — the aiptek records on .mov files that are already optimized for uploading on youtube and vimeo, etc. i didn’t have to do any converting whatsoever.

Sorry–the guy (Rudd) has been in the news more than ever lately, and the glasses and the hair reminded me of a caricature.
Also, I didn’t realise till now that it is of Megzo–if she’s a real person I really, really hope there’s no offence! (Same goes for Megzo the character, with her own realness.) I plead pareidolia!
And if you’re just weirded out about me wanting to see our PM with cleavage, well, WTF indeed.

None taken, man. And whoa! I had no idea there was such a thing called pareidolia

i’d like to see time lapse poems being done. do you know the words of the poem at the outset, or do you find the poem as you go?

@max – timelapse coming soon. i never know the words of a poem before I start, and I never read the article beforehand. keeping your mind open to all possibilities as you go is the biggest struggle…
